
Ginger Hamilton

Ginger joined Sonos Neuropathies in the spring of 2020, having recently and happily moved to Central Oregon with her husband, Mike. She grew up in Baguio City, Philippines, settling in Texas after college where she raised 2 children who are now the parents of her 4 precious young grandchildren. Ginger completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Baylor University and then worked primarily with interdisciplinary teams in a large academic medical center in Central Texas, addressing a wide range of communication and swallowing issues. In 2014, Ginger moved to Seattle to work in collaboration with ENT specialists at the University of Washington Medical Center and then 7 years later moved to the SF Bay area continuing with similar work, focusing exclusively on the areas of voice, swallow, and upper airway breathing disorders.
Ginger has many interests both indoors and out. She loves to host friends and family in her home, she loves to read fiction, nonfiction, and stay informed of current issues, and she loves to travel far and wide plus explore her beautiful new home state of Oregon.
Areas of Specialty
Ginger’s professional passions center on disorders occurring in the throat, and she has significant depth of continuing education and experience in the evaluation and treatment of these:
- Voice disorders/dysphonia/hoarseness/vocal fatigue in adults and children associated with vocal fold lesions, vocal fold weakness, and the aging voice. Ginger has special training and experience with LBGTQ individuals seeking a changed voice to express their gender preference. And, since the speaking voice and singing voice are from the same instrument, Ginger is happy to work with singers with voice complaints. When working with voice changes due to Parkinson’s, her preferred approach is SPEAK OUT!® followed by the group maintenance program The LOUD Crowd®.
- Swallow disorders/dysphagia in adults associated with: neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s and stroke affect the treatment of head and neck cancer, including surgery and radiation therapy.
- Chronic cough and shortness of breath associated with laryngeal hypersensitivity, vocal cord dysfunction, paradoxical vocal fold motion, and exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction.
Thanks to her many years working in medical settings, Ginger highly values collaboration with physicians. She will seek the best possible overall understanding of your area of concern .to plan your treatment program appropriately.
